Today’s Bawldys Go To…

What’s a Bawldy? Simply a way to recognize excellent results. At the end of the year in our company, we give away our annual Bawldy Awards. For instance, Josh won the Rookie of the Year Bawldy for 2005. The daily Bawldys have approximately 1/365th the value of our annual awards.
I’ve shamelessly taken this idea from Athol Kay’s daily habit of recommending posts from others’ blogs. His is called the Feed Bag, and, like most everything Athol does, draws folks to him daily to see if they’ve missed something worth reading that day. As much as I think we may have in common, I’m sure we’ll differ in what we might like others to read.
I’ll warn you up front — because of time and especially travel, I may not be able to do it every single day, though I’ll try my best. Also, those expecting the recommended reading to always be about investing or even real estate in general will be disappointed. There are, I’ve discovered recently, other interesting subjects.
I’ll begin today with the following recipients of today’s Bawldys.
Brian Brady is a fellow contributor to the famous BloodhoundBlog. He’s an incredibly knowledgeable mortgage broker with several years experience working on Wall Street. His post the other day — Pay the Loan Down and Refinance Later? The IRS is Out To Getchya! is a must read for those who have refinanced without knowing some of the potential consequences.
Kris Berg writes The San Diego Union may turn their back, but my San Diego Blog will be still be here which tells of how the San Diego Union just doesn’t get it. The Bergs’ blog is, in my opinion, the only ‘house agent’ blog worth reading in San Diego, though I’m certainly open to finding others. Are there any you like?
Over at Sellsius you’ll get 10 Essential Google Search Tips showing you how to better conduct all your searches.
Seth Godin, a marketing icon, writes Rochambeau the front line about what he says is brilliant as a new fast food promotion. I gotta figure out how to apply it to my operation.
Guy Kawasaki gives us a tremendous new way to use PowerPoint in his post Art of Innovation Online Video with PowerPoint Slides. He illustrates its effectiveness by providing an actual video demonstration — way cool. The video is about 55 minutes but very entertaining and effective. I’m going to use this new approach soon.
And finally, I’d be a total boob if I didn’t include something from Athol’s blog, from which I’ve pirated this idea. He publishes the Bad MLS Photo of the Day. For those of you who wonder about what’s going on between the ears of some agents, this will make you shake your head in wonder — as in, “I wonder what they were thinking.”
Those are today’s Bawldys. Any comments would be appreciated, plus any suggestions of what might deserve a Bawldy. Though most of the Bawldys will be linked because I like them, I’m absolutely open for your thoughts — good, bad, and (please) not too ugly.
