Real Estate Investment — The Vision Thing — We’ve Seen This Movie

Investing in real estate, with just a few exceptions, requires vision and thinking long term. Does this mean I’m advocating buy and hold, never sell — you know, what Grandpa always taught you? No, I’m not. What I’m saying is that if you’re investing to secure a solid retirement for yourself, showing patience can be a very profitable virtue. Don’t just look at a market — translate it.
It’s the vision thing.
The market tells us what to do and when to do it. You just have to be patient and listen. But that’s in real time. Vision allows us to know when to sell before it’s too difficult. It tells us when to buy — when others are still sitting on the sidelines.

Take our current market. Pick a region. There’s potential for solid gains all over the country. Just tap into the vision thing. There are at least three areas that will yield, in my opinion, significant gains in the next few years. They’re all west of the Mississippi. They’re all eminently affordable.
And those are just the ones I like. What area puts a smile on your face these days? Tell me. I want to know.
Right now, I like Boise, Salt Lake City, and Ogden. There’s something familiar about those cities, and I’ve figured out what it is.
I’ve seen that movie before — it has a happy ending. I’m smiling. Two tickets please.
